Cleveland Bankruptcy Attorneys’s Kristina Kuzmickas is coordinating the second annual #StoshyStrong Shave-a-Thon on Saturday, September 9 from 4-7 p.m. at PJ McIntyre’s Irish Pub in Cleveland, Ohio.
The event is held in honor of Kristina Kuzmickas’ son, Stanley Feeney. The Kuzmickas family has been involved with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation since Stanley was diagnosed with leukemia at just 13 months old. When this happened, they decided they wanted to get involved and do what they can to help children dealing with cancer.
Kristina and her husband began volunteering for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which is the leading non-government funder of childhood cancer research in the United States. After doing some research, they found that childhood cancer research is severely underfunded. Cancer is the most dangerous childhood disease with over 2,500 children dying from cancer each year. Alarmingly, only a mere 4 percent of federal money designated for cancer research goes towards childhood cancer. Thus, they organized and held the first #StoshyStrong Shave-a-Thon and raised over $7,700.
This year, the Kuzmickas family is setting their fundraising goal at $8,000 and has already raised over half of that amount.
What Will Happen at This Event?
At the event, volunteers known as ‘Shavees’ will get their heads shaved in front of a large, live crowd showing they stand in solidarity with children who are going through chemotherapy. There are also prizes and surprises at this year’s event.
