Paul Kuzmickas, an exemplary bankruptcy lawyer at Luftman, Heck and Associates, has officially been named a Rising Star by Ohio Super Lawyers for the second year in a row. Paul first achieved this honor in 2016. It is granted to only a select few lawyers who are under the age of 40 and have been identified by their colleagues as attaining the highest level of professional success. Those on the Ohio Super Lawyer Rising Star list are considered the “best of the best.”
The Journey to Being Chosen
The purpose of the Rising Star list is to identify a group of credible and diverse attorneys, which can then be used to help individuals find the right lawyers for their situations. Super Lawyers selects practicing attorneys through a patented multiphase process that includes initial nominations, independent research by the organization, and final peer evaluations.
Those nominated are measured based on 12 metrics:
- Position within a law firm
- Activity with bar and professional organizations
- Pro bono and community service
- Verdicts and settlements
- Representative clients
- Honors and awards
- Special licenses and certifications
- Scholastic writings and lectures
- Education and employment background
- Other outstanding achievements
The lawyers who obtain the most points based on these measures move on to the Blue Ribbon Panel, which evaluates the candidates based on their positions within their primary practice areas. Ultimately, only 2.5 percent of attorneys are selected as Rising Stars.
Being nominated alone is quite an honor. Paul feels even more privileged to have made it through a round of research and an in-depth look at his work within the area of bankruptcy and foreclosures.
Paul Kuzmickas Is Passionate About Helping the Community
For Paul, nothing compares to the honor he feels when he helps people within his community get a fresh start in life – even being named a Rising Star. He proudly offers his clients more than 10 years of experience in consumer debt law, including both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings as well as foreclosure defense.
He understands no one sets out in life expecting to hit hard times. Filing for bankruptcy or facing foreclosure are processes that carry with them tremendous amounts of stress and stigma. That is why Paul is passionate about working with his clients one-on-one to ensure they know they are making the right decisions and will be able to move on from a difficult financial situation.
In addition to Paul’s bankruptcy practice, he passes on his knowledge and passion to future paralegals as an adjunct professor at Cuyahoga County Community College. He has served as a guest lecturer regarding bankruptcy at Capital University Law School and held seminars on foreclosure in Cleveland. When he is not educating, he is involved with multiple professional associations, the United Cerebral Palsy Association, and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
